Why I don’t get super excited!

There are times when the term ‘reaching out’ would be appropriate in my correspondence, but I can’t bring myself to use it. The same goes for being ‘super excited’

I’m not even sure why?! I do get ‘really’ excited. …sometimes.

It’s not like I want to be seen as old and out-of-date. Although both of those are possibly true at 50. Well, just true!

Maybe it’s because I just don’t want to be a verbal version of mutton dressed as lamb….or, rather bleating as one.

Or maybe it’s because I’m a word snob, pulling back from more Americanization of our language.

I guess all of the above are symptoms of ‘oldness’.

I would, however, like to believe that it’s simply because I want to be respected as a wiser person. That my understanding of humans and their behaviours as customers is something that I’ve acquired over many years of running Silent Customer and that adopting the language of the ‘Y.1’ generation would somehow undermine that learning.

Older and wiser people. Older and wiser! I wonder when one becomes just ‘old and wise’.
